Benedictine University Athletics

Katie McCue has served as the head coach at Benedictine University since October 2020. Taking over after a successful run as an assistant coach at Loyola University Chicago, McCue was named NACC South Division Coach of the Year in her first season at Benedictine (Covid year) in 2020-2021.

McCue recorded her first win as a head coach on April 7^th 2021 against Concordia Chicago, in a thrilling double OT win. The team during the Covid season also reached the NACC South Division Championship game.
 
During the fall 2021 season, the team was led to a four-game winning streak in conference play. Student-athlete Eve Meintz was named to the Second Team All-NACC after the fall 2021 season.

Prior to Benedictine, McCue was an assistant coach at Loyola University Chicago from Spring 2017 to Fall 2020. During her years there, Loyola had their most successful stretches in program history with 38 victories, sweeping the conference regular season and tournament titles, and showcases in the NCAA tournament.

McCue’s other coaching background includes a two-year stint at Winona State as a graduate assistant coach from Fall 2015-Spring 2017. During her time there, the team appeared in the NCAA Tournament back-to-back years. Prior, she was an assistant coach at Ripon College for one season.

McCue earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Winona State. McCue currently resides in Bartlett, Illinois with her husband Patrick and two daughters, Maddie and Sophie.
