Sara Mahoney joins the Benedictine staff in her first season as the Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach in 2017.

Mahoney, a Kenosha, WI native, comes to Benedictine after a successful playing career at Carroll University (Waukesha, WI). Her collegiate career started at the University of South Florida where she played two years on the school’s club team. She then transferred to Carroll University where she played two seasons for the Pioneers. Mahoney was instrumental in helping Carroll win a regular season Midwest Conference Tournament title and a bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. She was a two-time First Team All-Midwest Conference selection, and a First Team All North Region pick. Additionally, Mahoney was chosen as the 2015 MWC Defensive Player of the Year, and her accomplishments were recognized nationally when she received the NSCAA, now USC, All-American Award. Mahoney became the first athlete to be named All-American in the history of Carroll University’s Women’s Soccer program.

Mahoney graduated cum laude from Carroll University with a B.S. in exercise science. She has a passion for sports performance and strength and conditioning. She is a certified personal trainer and is working towards her CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification. She has worked at numerous soccer camps including ones for Carroll University, Carthage College and the U.S. Soccer Paralympic Team. While completing an internship at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, now Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, she also worked with adaptive sports. During this time she helped design a training program for the RIC Sled Hockey Team.

She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Management and Organization Behavior here at Benedictine University.
