James "LJ" Sernek serves as the athletic trainer for football, men's and women's track and field and men's lacrosse at Benedictine University. He assumed the role of assistant athletic trainer in the fall of 2018.
LJ has been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the NATA-BOC since September 2012.
LJ was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Lindenwood University - Belleville where he earned a Master’s of Arts degree in Communications in 2014. LJ earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science with a concentration in Athletic Training from Lewis University in 2012. He attended and graduated from St. Laurence High School in 2008. LJ has experience working in a variety of settings including high school, physician's office and collegiate.Â

LJ and his wife currently reside in Woodridge. Â
