Nate VanRaden serves as the athletic trainer for the men’s soccer, men's basketball, men's volleyball, track and field and golf teams at Benedictine. Nate started working at Benedictine in the fall of 2015. He assumed the role of head athletic trainer in the fall of 2017 after serving as an assistant athletic trainer the previous two years, and was named Assistant Director of Athletics – Sports Medicine and Performance in the fall of 2018. In addition to athletic training, Nate also has oversight of the Strength & Conditioning programs at Benedictine.
Nate also serves as an adjunct instructor in the sport and exercise science program at Benedictine, teaching multiple courses each year.
Nate is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the NATA-BOC, is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Illinois, and also holds a Performance Enhancement Specialist certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Prior to working for Benedictine University, Nate was employed by Athletico Physical Therapy where he served as a physician extender for Dr. James Krcik in Tinley Park, Ill., and also served as an athletic trainer at Oak Forest High School in Oak Forest, Ill. Nate was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Purdue University where he earned a Master’s of Science in Health and Kinesiology in 2009. Nate earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007.
Nate and his wife Audra reside in Orland Park, IL with their two children, Lucy and Rosie.
