Benedictine University's volleyball team made short work of visiting Alverno College, scoring a 3-0 win at The Rice Center on Tuesday evening. The Eagles improved to 9-12 overall and 4-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference with the 25-8, 25-17, 25-11 victory over the winless Inferno.
The match also afforded Head Coach
Jennifer Wildes to rest here regulars and give her reserves some significant court time. Wildes played all 17 of her players in uniform (with the regular starting lineup only in for the first set).
Kaitlin Walsh led all players with six kills in 11 attempts, while
Robyn Hart,
Kari Gardiner and
Jamie Nizzia each added four kills. Walsh also served up three aces.
In all, Benedictine's team would have made any card shark proud as it produced 18 aces in the match. Junior libero
Jackie Rust had four aces, while Gardiner and
Sara Olszta each also had three. Olszta had a match-leading 13 assists and Rust topped the charts with eight digs.
