BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Benedictine University's returning All-America honorable mention player - junior outside hitter
Kayla Leyden - earned her second all-tournament accolades of the season last weekend. Unfortunately, the Eagles' team struggled overall and came away with a 1-3 record at the Illinois Wesleyan Barker Classic on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Benedictine was swept in both of its matches by Cornell College (Iowa) - 25-21, 25-16, 25-23 - and by host Illinois Wesleyan, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22. On Saturday, the Eagles came back from the brink of defeat to win a marathon five-set match over Buena Vista University (24-26, 17-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-6). Beloit topped BU in three (25-19, 27-25, 25-21) to close out the tourney.
Leyden rolled up a total of 59 kills in the four matches by her team. In addition to back-to-back 15 kill efforts on Friday night, Leyden slammed down 16 kills and had 18 digs against BVU. Overall, she had 68 digs in the four matches.

Jackie Rust had 25 digs on Friday night, while freshman
Meagan Kmieciak added 36 digs in Saturday's pair of games.
