NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Benedictine split its pair of matches on Saturday morning at the North Central College Triangular, losing to host NCC (3-0), before turning the tables on Lake Forest College (3-0). The Eagles now sport an overall record of 4-8 on the season.
In the loss to North Central (21-25, 15-25, 23-25), the Eagles got a 17-kill performance from
Kayla Leyden. Leyden also had 12 digs in the match, along with five blocks.
Jackie Rust and
Sarah Porod each added six kills. Rust had a team-leading 14 digs and Porod had three blocks.
Setters
Jessica Judge and
Taylor Hoppe had 17 and 13 assists, respectively. Hoppe and
Meagan Kmieciak each had eight digs, as well.
In the win over Lake Forest College (25-15, 25-22, 25-16), the Eagles received another big effort from returning All-America honorable mention Leyden. The junior pounded down 20 kills and added 15 digs to her team's coffers.
Miranda Brannen, a freshman, had eight kills in 14 attack attempts and just one error. Brannen also had a team-leading three blocks and served up one ace in the match.
Judge had 21 assists and Kmieciak added nine digs.
