Box ScoreFond du Lac, Wis. - After appearing to hit their stride in recent weeks Benedictine hit a roadblock Saturday, falling to Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis.
Benedictine (8-5, 2-3 in Northern Athletics Conference) failed to find much of a rhythm Saturday despite trading leads throughout the first half.
The Eagles were ice cold from beyond the arc, shooting 7-of-26 from downtown including a 1-of-7 shooting night from
Michael Fahey.
After holding the game close in the first stanza, Marian (5-8, 2-3 in NAC) completely blew the game open in the second half grabbing a 16-point lead midway. Benedictine was able to cut the deficit to seven after two
Nate Green (21 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds) free throws.
Marian though, stormed right back going on a 10-2 run to bump their lead back to 15, a lead they would never let get below double-digits.
Marian’s Logan Rankin did most of the damage picking up 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Josh Washington led the Sabres with 10 rebounds.
Kevin Hudak (16 points) and Bryan Ashbeck (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scoring for Marian.
For Benedictine, Green’s 21 lead the team, while
Cameron Snelling (13 points) and
Rob Bridgeman (10 points) both scored double-digit points for the Eagles.
Benedictine will look to exact revenge Wednesday, as they will travel back to Wisconsin, this time Milwaukee, to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College.
