MILWAUKEE, Wis. - After dropping its first game in almost a month Sunday against Marian University, Benedictine returned to its winning ways Wednesday by defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 86-77.

Benedictine (9-5, 3-3 in NAC) dominated the outset of the game, going into halftime with an 11-point lead.

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-8, 3-2 in NAC) stormed back midway through the second half, taking a 67-66 lead on a Ben Ziesemer (18 points) jumper. Tim Demuth’s three-pointer on the next possession extended the Wisconsin Lutheran lead to four points.

Benedictine’s Dan Klecan (13 points, four rebounds) responded with a three-pointer of his own to cut the Eagles deficit to one.

After two Wisconsin Lutheran free throws, Cameron Snelling put Benedictine on his back hitting consecutive three-pointers to give the Eagles a 77-74 advantage with a little more than three minutes remaining. Benedictine never looked back en route to the nine-point victory.

Snelling led the way with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Nate Green also poured in 17 points, along with eight assists and a team-high four steals. #A.J. Brown# also broke into double figures, scoring 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Rob Bridgeman led the Eagles in rebounding with seven.

Wednesday’s victory marked the Eagles’ sixth win in their last seven games while also bringing Benedictine back to .500 in the NAC.

Benedictine returns to the Rice Center the first time this season in a Saturday showdown against Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Tip-off is at 4:15 p.m.
