Candice Cuppini tallied a game high 14 kills but it wasn't enough as the Benedictine University volleyball team fell to Dominican University in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament championship on Saturday night.
The Eagles led most of the first set but allowed the Stars to come back and take the first set 25-23. Dominican led at the beginning of set two and the Eagles came within one point at 14-13 but several hitting errors and an ace from Becca Fritz pushed the Stars to a 25-19 win. Benedictine rallied late in set three and kills from
Brooke Bowman and
Candice Cuppini put Benedictine within two points but DU came out on top, winning 25-22 in set three.
The Stars were led by Claire Dezelski with 12 kills and Liz Yakey had 20 digs.
The Eagles end the 2010 season with a 24-10 overall record.
