LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team dropped both of their games after traveling to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the Las Vegas Hoopls. The Eagles first lost to University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 84-70, in the first day and then dropped a heartbreaking 53-51 decision to Mount St. Joseph.
Nate Green led the Eagles (3-7) with 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assitsts against Oshkosh.
Mark Pace tallied 13 points and four rebounds.
As a team, BenU was 39.7 percent from the field (25-63) and forced 15 Oshkosh turnovers on seven steals.
OshKosh was led by Greg Schrimpf who tallied 19 points. As a team, they were 47.4 percent from the floor (27-57) and out-rebounded the Eagles 47-26.
In their second game against Mount St. Joseph the Eagles had a commanding 32-23 half-time lead but allowed Mount St. Joseph to shoot almost 50 percent from the field in the second half to take home the 53-51 lead.
Green tallied 16 points and eight rebounds while
Andy Crutchfield and Pace scored eight points.
The men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, January 7 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College at 4:15 p.m. in the Rice Center.
