Cameron Snelling snagged his 12th career double-double and head coach
Keith Bunkenburg tallied his 250th career victory as the Eagles defeated Lakeland College 87-82 on Saturday night in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
The Eagles (14-6, 9-3) took an early first half lead, going up by as many as 12 with a layup from
Jerrell Tribble. Lakeland (12-9, 7-6) chopped at their deficit and cut it down to two, but
Dario Jokic would answer right back with a three from the corner to go back up by five.
With one minute left in the half, LC's Justin Ward cut the Eagle lead to one, 29-28, but
Terry Licht would hit a jumper with less than 30 seconds left to head into the locker room at half time up 31-28.
Benedictine came out on fire in the second half, extending their lead to 14 with 11 minutes remaining. Lakeland once again charged back and cut the Eagle lead in half with a jumper from Josh Regal.
The Muskies forced a BenU turnover with just over four minutes remaining and threatened to take the lead but
Nate Green answered with a three-pointer. Benedictine would make five of their next six shots to secure the 87-82 victory.
Green led all players with 23 points and seven assists and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line while Snelling scored 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Terry Licht scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Tribble scored 12 points and had a team high four steals.
As a team, the Eagles out-rebounded the Muskies 42-31 and shot 49.2 percent from the field (32-for-65).
Lakeland was led by Komorowski who scored 21 points.
