ELMHURST, Ill. - The Benedictine University volleyball team opened up Northern Athletics Conference action on Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep over Alverno College. The Eagles tallied 33 kills as a team.
Benedictine (6-4, 1-0 NAC) never let Alverno (2-7, 0-1 NAC) score more than 13 points in all three sets as they won 25-12, 25-13, 25-13.
Haley Fitzgerald led all players with eight kills and tallied nine digs.
Candice Cuppini had seven kills and
Meagan Kmieciak had a game high 14 digs.
Kara Zuro was on fire behind the service line tallying six aces. Freshman setter Abby Sattler had 24 assists.
As a team the Eagles out-hit the Inferno 33 kills to 10 and had 39 digs as a team. Morgan Stuckey led AC with six kills while Shelby Metzger had 10 assists.
Benedictine is back in action this weekend when they travel to North Central for the Red & Black Triangular. The Eagles take on North Central College at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. match against Lake Forest College.
