NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University volleyball team lost two matches at the annual Red and Black Triangular on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles lost to North Central College in four sets and then fell to Lake Forest College in three sets.
As a team, Benedictine (6-6) out-hit North Central with 57 kills but NCC recorded 12 team blocks and had seven aces in their four-set victory.
Haley Fitzgerald and
Molly Kovacich each recorded double-doubles in the loss with Fitzgerald tallying 13 kills and 12 digs while Kovacich had 11 kills and 20 digs.
Candice Cuppini led all players with 14 kills while Abby Sattler had 40 assists.
In the second match, Lake Forest totaled 40 kills compared to BenU's 29 but the Eagles did have eight team blocks. Kovacich led the team with 10 kills and 14 digs, her second double-double of the day.
Meagan Kmieciak had 12 digs while Sattler totaled 27 assists.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 21 when they travel to Aurora Univerity for a 7:00 pm contest.
