ROCKFORD, Ill. - The women's basketball team shot 50.0 percent and
Michelle Gaede scored a season high and her first double-double of the year with 21 point and 12 rebounds to push Benedictine University to a 78-62 win over Rockford College on Wednesday night in Northern Athletics Conference action.
Rockford took a 6-2 lead in the first four mintes of action but a jumper from
Katie Hunzinger gave Benedictine the lead and the Eagles never looked back, going up by as many as18 in the first half on 19-32 shooting from the field. The Eagles took a 48-33 lead at the half.
Benedictine continued their offensive dominance in the second half when
Michelle Gaede catapulted the Eagles to a 21-point lead at the 8:53 mark enroute to a 78-62 victory.
Gaede led BenU in scoring with 21 points and 12 rebounds while
Tracey Walsh scored 17 points and had three assists. Hunzinger tallied 12 points with six rebounds and four steals.
The women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, January 21 when they host Maranatha Baptist Bible College at 2:00 pm in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
