Eagles Downed By Warriors

LISLE, Ill. - Despite forcing 14 Wisconsin Lutheran College turnovers, the Benedictine University women's basketball team dropped a 75-56 decision to the Warriors on Saturday afternoon at the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

Katie Hunzinger led the Eagles with her first double-double of the year, 12 points and a season high 15 rebounds. Hunzinger was 5-for-8 from the field and 2-for-3 at the free-throw line. Kam Haifleigh also scored 12 points and tallied six rebounds while Megan Novak rounded out the top scoreres for Benedictine (4-9, 1-5 NAC) with 11 points.

Wisconsin Lutheran (8-3, 5-0 NAC) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back in the first half. The Warriors were 13-for-32 in the first half and lead by as many as 17 points before taking a 39-27 lead at the half.

The Eagles found some momentum in the second half, out-scoring WLC 14-9 in the first eight minutes of play and cut their deficit to just nine. The Warriors quickly answered back with three consecutive buckets and went on to win 75-56.

Krissy Day led all players with 16 points.

The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, January 10 when they continue Northern Athletics Conference action against Dominican University at 7:00 p.m. in the Rice Center.
