After winning the Northern Athletics Conference championship on Saturday night, the Benedictine University volleyball team earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they will play University of Chicago on Friday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m. at Elmhurst College.
Eight of 64 teams make up the Elmhurst regional. Benedictine will play the first game of the day, a 12:30 p.m. contest against Chicago. The Eagles have taken on Chicago twice this season. The first match-up saw BenU lose in four sets to the Maroons (25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 26-24) on September 26 at Chicago. Most recently, Benedictine defeated then No. 12 Chicago at their home tournament, the Eagle Classic, in four sets (25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19) on October 26.
The Maroons are currently 28-10 heading into the NCAA Tournament. Chicago placed third at the UAA Volleyball Championship, falling to Washington University in the semifinals.
Benedictine is 30-4 on the year after winning the Northern Athletics Conference title.
