Box Score

LISLE, Ill. - In front of a packed Rice Center, the Benedictine University women's basketball team made their senior night a memorable one as they downed Rockford College, 69-51, on Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Conference action. The win guaranteed the Eagles a spot in the NAC Tournament.

In front of a crowd of pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month, Tracey Walsh and Breanne Amadio were honored before the game for their contribution the last four years.

Benedictine (9-14, 6-10 NAC) jumped out to a 19-point lead after going on a 15-2 run to start the first half. Rockford (4-19, 3-13 NAC) tried to chop away at their deficit but the Eagles hot shooting was too much as they took a 38-26 halftime lead.

The Eagles continued to stay dominate in the second half, going up by as many as 23 after baskets from Vincenza Ranallo, Kirsten Pope and Kam Haifleigh as BenU went on to win 69-51.

Walsh and Katie Hunzinger led the Eagles with 16 points each while Megan Novak tallied 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Also scoring in double figures was Haifleigh, with 10 points.

As a team, the Eagles forced 23 Regent turnovers, but BenU was out-rebounded 42-39. The Eagles shot 40.0 percent from the field and were 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday, February 15 when they travel to Dominican University for a 7:00 pm contest.
