Eagles End Season With 74-56 Loss at Wisconsin Lutheran

Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team held Wisconsin Lutheran to a 39-38 halftimescore, but the Warriors hot shooting in the second half ended the Eagles season in the quarterfinal game of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament on Wednesday night, 74-56.

The first half saw the No. 8 Eagles (10-16, 6-11 NAC) hold the No. 2 Warriors (22-4, 17-1 NAC) to a close game. Benedictine would eventually take the lead with three minutes left after a jumper from Tracey Walsh but Wisconsin Lutheran would come out on top at halftime, 39-38.

Wisconsin Lutheran's offense caught fire in the second half, shooting 50 percent from the field. Over a five minute period to start the half, WLC went on a 13-4 run, that included four BenU turnovers, and would go up by as many as 20 points on their way to a 74-56 victory over the Eagles.

Leading the BenU offense was Michelle Gaede who scored 18 points and was 7-11 from the floor. Walsh tallied 17 points and two assists while Katie Hunzinger had six points and a team high seven rebounds.

As a team the Eagles shot 38.0 percent (19-50) but had 21 turnovers compared to WLC's 15. On the boards, Wisconsin Lutheran edged Benedictine 36-32.

Shavon Dillon led all players with 19 points and four rebounds.
