Despite falling in the first set, the Benedictine University volleyball team defeated Marian University 3-1 on Friday night in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
Marian (5-7, 1-4 NACC) took an early lead in the first set. The Eagles (12-10, 6-0 NACC) tied the game at 16 but Marian's offense wouldn't quit, taking the first set 25-17. Benedictine went up 10-4 in the second set and never looked back, taking set two 25-19. After a back and forth third set, kills from

Mailani Burton and
Candice Cuppini gave BenU the 30-28 win. With momentum on their side, the Eagles took an early fourth set lead and won 25-11.
Cuppini led all players with 16 kills while
Nicole Adams recorded 11 kills. Kovacich had nine kills and also recorded 14 digs. Defensively,
Haley Fitzgerald led all players with 22 digs and Abby Sattler had 14 digs and 39 assists.
Breanna Hamerlinck tallied 12 digs.
Benedictine plays at Lakeland College tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
