SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team went on the road and collected a 64-50 victory at Lakeland on Saturday.
The first half of the contest was slow paced, with Benedictine leading for most of the half. Two
Kam Haifleigh free throws opened an early 9-0 run as the Eagles jumped ahead by seven points five minutes into the contest. Lakeland battled back to lead with just over a minute to go in the half but
Michelle Batty's jumper handed Benedictine a 16-15 lead at the intermission.
Benedictine came out firing to begin the second half, opening on a 12-0 run to take a 28-15 lead with 16:02 to play.
Meghan Novak buried a three to open the run with
Vincenza Ranallo hitting a three to cap the early rally. Lakeland could only pull as close as eight points the remainder of the game with Benedictine leading by as many as 20 points, cruising to the win. The Eagles shot 60.7 percent in the second half.
Briana Hamilton led all scorers with 14 points. Ranallo added 12 and Novak finished with 10. The bench scored 37 points and Benedictine held a commanding 40-25 edge on the glass.
Benedictine (3-5, 3-2) will host Concordia Chicago on Tuesday night.
