LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team reached the .500 mark in conference play with a 99-94 win over Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday.

Benedictine led for most of the contest but had to hold off a late charge from the visitors. The Eagles held control for much of the first half, leading by as many as seven points. Both teams used end to action high tempt action, leading to high shooting percentages. Concordia Wisconsin battled back to lead 38-36 following a three with 2:37 left in the first half. Benedictine netted the final four points on a jumper from Tim McGinty and a pair of free throws from Kevin Rollins to take a slim 44-42 at the break. The opening half featured five ties and two lead changes.

Benedictine opened a double digit lead at 60-50 with an 8-1 run at the 15:31 mark of the second. The lead swelled to as many as 12 with 7:43 left in the game. Concordia Wisconsin began pressing and pulled within three points and battled within a single point at 95-94 in the final moments, but Benedictine was able to hit free throws for the win.

Both teams were efficient from the field. Benedictine shot 67.9 percent in the second half and 61.7 percent for the game. The Eagles also continued the strong rebounding with a 35-24 edge. Benedictine tallied 22 points off turnovers with Concordia Wisconsin adding 28 off 19 rebounds. Four players scored in double figures for the Eagles led by McGinty. McGinty scored 29 points and added 10 rebounds. Michael Blaszczyk scored 20 with Tahron Harvey tallying 18. Michael Woolf finished with 11 points.

Benedictine (3-5, 2-2) is off for finals this week and returns to action on the road Saturday against Lakeland.
