LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team dropped an 83-59 decision at home to Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday night.
Concordia Wisconsin, currently leading the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, led wire-to-wire in the contest. The visitors scored the first five points of the game and led by double digits at 22-12 with 11:38 remaining in the first half. The lead stretched to 21 at the break with the visitors in front 47-26. Benedictine turned the ball over 15 times in the half leading to 25 points. The Eagles did shoot 55 percent from the field in the half, but Concordia Wisconsin finished at 61.3 percent.
Benedictine was able to pull within 14 points at 56-42 thanks to a 7-0 run with 12:54 left. Two
Alanna Ferry free throws opened the run and a
Rena Ranallo layup finished the run. Concordia Wisconsin countered with a 7-0 run of their own and went on the lead by as many as 29 in the victory.
Two players reached double figures in the game to lead Benedictine.
Vincenza Ranallo totaled 10 points along with
Briana Hamilton off of the bench, The bench scored 26 points for the Eagles.
Benedictine (2-5, 2-2) is off for finals until Saturday, December 14 when they travel to Wisconsin for a road game at Lakeland.
