Despite winning the firt set, the Benedictine University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to non-conference opponent Wheaton College on Thursday night.
The Eagles (4-4) beat Wheaton in the first set 26-24 but dropped the second one 23-25. In the third and fourth set, the Eagles fell behind early and could never recover losing 18-25 and 19-25.
Candice Cuppini led the Eagles with 13 kills while
Nicole Adams tallied 12 kills. Abby Sattler had 36 assists, 12 digs and one ace while
Molly Kovacich had seven kills and 11 digs. Libero
Haley Fitzgerald had 12 digs.
As a team, the Eagles recorded 44 kills, 53 digs and five blocks. Wheaton had 52 kills, 60 digs and 10 team blocks.
The Benedictine volleyball team is back in action on Wednesday, September 18 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7:00 p.m. in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
