Candice Cuppini tallied 16 kills and just two errors to help lead the Benedictine University volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opponent Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday night in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

The Eagles (5-4, 2-0 NACC) took the first set easily, defeating WLC (3-10, 1-1 NACC) 25-13. Wisconsin Lutheran battled with BenU in the second set until the Eagles pulled away with kills from Jacki Kaluzny and Cuppini to win 25-19. In a thrilling third set, with both teams battled for the lead until the very end. The Warriors took a 24-22 lead but two attack errors from WLC and a service ace from Abby Sattler allowed the Eagles a 27-25 win.

Cuppini led all players with 16 kills while Jacki Kaluzny recorded nine kills and five digs. Haley Fitzgerald had 18 digs while Sattler had 29 assists, two aces and 12 digs.

As a team, the Eagles out-hit WLC 37-24 and also had 56 digs and six blocks.

Benedictine travels to Chicago this weekend to compete in the Gargoyle Classic taking on Milikin University and Christopher Newport University on Friday and then Elmhurst College and University of Chicago on Saturday. To view the Eagles entire schedule CLICK HERE.
