The Benedictine University volleyball team took on Elmhurst College and University of Chicago in the second day of the Gargoyle Classic, falling to both teams in three sets.

The Eagles (5-8) fell to Elmhurst 25-10, 25-20, 25-18. As a team BenU recorded 45 digs but were out-hit by the Bluejays 42-26 and only had one team block while Elmhurst tallied seven. Candice Cuppini led the Eagles with 13 kills while Haley Fitzgerald had nine digs.

In game two, Chicago took the match 25-12, 25-13, 25-18 with Cuppini recording five kills and Fitzgerald with 13 digs. Abby Sattler had 17 assists and eight digs.

Benedictine returns home this week to host Alverno College on Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00 pm followed by a non-conference match against Illinois Wesleyan University at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 25.
