LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University football team raised the curtains on the 2013 season with a 48-27 loss to 15th ranked Wheaton College on Saturday night.
Benedictine rolled up over 300 yards of total offense in the defeat. The Eagles led once in the contest, grabbing a 13-10 lead when 
Michael McNulty ran in from 10 yards out with 7:23 to play in the first half. Following the score, Wheaton ran up 21 unanswered points, taking a 31-13 lead.
The Eagles scored in every quarter and won the turnover battle while also holding a commanding edge in time of possession. 
Cyle Schultz ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in the contest. Schultz completed 16-of-29 pass attempts for 187 yards. McNulty ran for 83 on 20 carried with the second quarter score. Eight different individuals snared passes from Schultz with McNulty leading the way with five grabs. McNulty accumulated over 200 all purpose yards. Jared Lecas and 
Stefan Herron paced the defense with seven tackles each. Lecas recovered a fumble and Niko Paaloalo picked off a pass.
