LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team recorded a 68-54 decision over Dominican University on Thursday night.
With the game all square at 10 aside, Benedictine used a 12-2 run to jump ahead 22-12.
Michael Blaszczyk knocked down three straight threes to open the run. Benedictine went on to lead by as many as 15 points in the half while limiting Dominican to just seven field goals. The opening half featured a tie and five lead changes as the Eagles led 33-23.
Benedictine did not trail in the second half of the game. An early bucket allowed Dominican to pull within 10 points but the visitors could pull no closer. The Eagles led by as many as 18 points in the half following a
Tyler Thurston three-point play with 10:19 remaining.
Benedictine received 24 points from the bench compared to only a pair for Dominican. The Eagles finished the game shooting 39.3 percent from the field and held a commanding 49-32 edge on the boards. Blaszczyk scored 17 points in the game, all in the first half.
Tim McGinty posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards, his second of the year.
Tim Reamer grabbed 10 rebounds and added eight points in 17 minutes.
Benedictine (7-9, 5-6) will host Marian University on Saturday night.
