LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team blanked Beloit 5-0 in the final non-conference contest of the season on Tuesday night.
Benedictine kept the pressure on from the beginning of the contest. Avoiding an early opportunity, the Eagles logged six shots before finally breaking though in the 25th minute.
Paige Velez picked up a loose ball following a failed clear and put Benedictine ahead. The goal was the first of three in the opening 45 minutes, all of which came in succession.
Megan Anderson scored in the 26th minute on a blast from the top of the box.
Danielle Melotte finished a cross from Velez in the 27th minute to cap the stretch.
The second half saw the tempo decrease, but Benedictine padded the lead with a pair of goals. Anderson drove home a one-timer from
Taylor Pokorny in the 62nd minute. Velez finished the scoring by heading home a cross from
Rachael Hodison in the 71st minute.
Benedictine held a commanding 22-5 edge in shots with 15 coming in the first half. Eight individuals posted shots in the contest led by five from Anderson.
Amanda Lozada played the entire game in net, recording three saves in the shutout, her first collegiate win.
Benedictine (3-9-1) returns to conference action on Saturday against MSOE.
