LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday afternoon.
The first 20 minutes of action were very even.
Danielle Melotte was denied on a shot in the 14th minute.
Maddie Frye made a save in the 18th minute, but MSOE broke through in the 21st minute with the lone tally of the opening half. Despite being out shot 9-6, Benedictine put three on target in the opening half.
MSOE had several early chances to extend the lead in the second half but could not sneak a shot past the Benedictine defense.
Jackie Elzakhem was denied in the 63rd minute on a chance to tie. The visitors struck twice late to pad the advantage.
"Overall, I thought we did well in certain stretches of the game," head coach
Mike Boland said. "Both teams exchanged chances early on in the contest. Some minor mental mistakes cost some goals, and good teams convert. We are still working to put together consistent whistle to whistle efforts."
MSOE held a 21-8 advantage in shots, peppering 12 at Benedictine in the second half. Melotte logged three shots in the contest with
Taylor Pokorny adding a pair. Frye made six saves in the match. Four seniors were honored before the match as part of Senior Day.
Benedictine (3-10-1, 1-4 NACC) travels to Concordia Chicago on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
