Men's Hoops Rebounds at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team continued a busy week with a bounce back performance on the road, taking down Concordia Chicago 73-59.

Following a tough loss at home on Tuesday, Benedictine shot almost 60 percent in the first half to race ahead. Trailing 12-10 just over five minutes into the game, Benedictine ripped off eight straight points to take the lead. Michael Blaszczyk opened the run with a jumper and Adam Reynolds finished the spurt. Ahead by four points with 7:37 left in the first, Benedictine struck for eight unanswered to move ahead by 12 at 31-19. Tim McGinty capped the run with a layup at the 4:36 mark. The lead would reach 16 on a Blaszczyk triple in the closing moments. Benedictine held a 44-31 edge at halftime.

Shots continued to fall at the start of the second half as the defense stifled the hosts. McGinty scored the first three points of the half as part of a 15-1 run which saw Benedictine open a 59-32 lead with 13:02 to play. Benedictine kept the lead in the 20s for most of the second half until a late run resulted in the final margin.

Benedictine sent 16 players onto the floor in the contest. Three individuals scored in double figures. McGinty scored 18 points with 10 coming from the free throw line. Benedictine hit 23 free throws in the game. McGinty also added nine rebounds with Benedictine holding a 42-27 edge on the glass. John Dodson added 15 points with Blaszczyk notching 13.

Benedictine (4-2, 3-1) plays a third contest this week on Saturday afternoon at Concordia University Wisconsin in a 4:15 p.m. affair.
