LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team finished out the regular season with a 74-63 win over Rockford on Tuesday night.
Benedictine never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points of the contest. The lead quickly swelled to double figures with nine straight points following the first Rockford bucket.
Meghan Novak made a layup to make the score 15-2 with 15:22 to go in the opening half.
Rockford was able to fight within four points at the midpoint of the half before a 10-0 run made it 31-17.
Vincenza Ranallo ignited the run with a three and
Kam Haifleigh finished the run with a layup. Benedictine shot 62.5 percent in the half and led 46-29 at the break. Rockford did not pull closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Michelle Gaede tallied a game and season high 19 points. Gaede also dished eight assists.
Meghan Novak scored 12 points while
Nicole Botich notched 10 off the bench.
Alanna Ferry distributed six assists. Benedictine finished the game shooting 52.5 percent from the floor.
Benedictine (12-13, 12-8) will open the NACC Tournament on the road Saturday afternoon at Edgewood as the fifth seed.
