LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team opened the home portion of the schedule with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Illinois Wesleyan.

Following a scoreless first 45 minutes, Illinois Wesleyan struck at the start of the second half. Anes Kadiric forced overtime by striking unassisted in the final minute of action following a frantic sequence. The visiting Titans won the contest on the first attempt of overtime.

"I thought that in the first half we did a really good job of playing our game," head coach Rich Nassif said. "Unfortunately, the moments we had to put one in the net and get a grasp on the game we let slip away. Against tough teams, we can't let those moments slip away."

Benedictine held a slim 13-12 advantage in shots. Bobby Kostadinov and Markotic posted three shots each. Steve Mack stopped three shots in net.

"It was great to get the equalizer in such dramatic fashion," Nassif said. "In reality, that is a game we need to put away early on."

Benedictine (1-3-1) hosts Augustana on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.
