LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team opened the home portion of the season by falling 4-1 to Elmhurst College on Thursday night.
Elmhurst (3-1) found the back of the net twice early, opening a 2-0 lead in the 12th minute. The visitors extended the lead to 3-0 in the 35th minute and held that edge at halftime.
Danielle Melotte tallied the first goal of the year for the Eagles just after the start of the second half.
Jackie Elzakhem provided the helper.
Maddie Frye stopped seven shots in goal, playing the entire contest. Elmhurst held a 22-4 edge in shots. Elzakhem posted a pair of shots for the Eagles.
Benedictine (0-5) plays in the North Central College Sal Vaccaro Tournament this weekend, opening play on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Monmouth.
