WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Benedictine University football team suffered a 34-6 defeat at the hands of Carroll University in non-conference action on the road Saturday afternoon.

Carroll opened the scoring with a long drive midway through the first quarter. The host Pioneers marched 65 yards on 13 plays to score on a 16-yard pass play to convert on a third and one and grab a 6-0 lead with 6:31 remaining in the first quarter.

Benedictine marched deep onto the Carroll side but could not score following a 13-play drive in the middle of the second. Carroll extended the lead to 14-0 late in the first half following a 14-play drive that covered 74 yards late in the first half.

Trailing to begin the second half, Benedictine marched down the field on the opening drive to pull within a touchdown. Two big pass plays from Luke Ludolph helped the Eagles strike. Ludolph connected with Max Seibert on a 16-yard pass on a third and six, and also hit Greg German for a 36-yard play on the drive. Anthony Mitchell plunged into the endzone from one yard out to bring Benedictine within 14-6 with 11:38 left in the third. The hosts went on to score 20 unanswered to collect the win. Turnovers led to two of the touchdowns.

Benedictine totaled 342 yards of offense including 241 through the air. Ludolph completed 20 passes for 235 yards in his Benedictine debut. German reeled in nine passes for 129 yards in a breakout performance. Mitchell ran for 65 yards on 17 carries as Benedictine accumulated 101 on the ground.

Jarrett Lecas amassed 14 tackles for the Eagles defensively. Rodney Nichols also racked up 14 stops with a block and a tackle for loss. Kris Rosemann added eight tackles, including two for loss.
