LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team finished a three-game stretch at home by rolling past Alverno 74-48 on Wednesday night.
Benedictine did no trail in the game, scoring the first seven points. Alverno was able to pull within four points but a three-pointer from
Meghan Novak pushed the Benedictine lead to 19-9 with 10:39 left in the first. The advantage would reach 16 in the first half before Alverno battled to within 33-22 at the half.
A layup from
DeKayla Crayton with 14:16 remaining put Benedictine ahead 48-28. The lead would swell to 30 points in the second half. Benedictine used 16 players in the game with 12 different individuals scoring points. The contest was initially scheduled to be played at Alverno, but with a postponement of an earlier contest the game was played in Lisle.
Benedictine, the top rebounding team in the conference, held a 48-28 edge on the glass, reeling in 21 on the offensive glass, which led to 21 second chance points. Novak led all scorers with 24 points in 28 minutes, adding three assists and three steals. Crayton matched a season high with 13 points off the bench.
Alanna Ferry distributed six assists.
Benedictine (11-7, 11-2 NACC) returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Edgewood.
