SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team pulled within a half game of first in the NACC with a 77-66 win at Lakeland.
Benedictine stormed out of the gates, scoring the first 10 points of the contest.
Tim McGinty scored on a layup to cap the early burst with 15:32 left in the half. The lead in the first half would continue to swell.
Tim Reamer finished a three-point play with just over a minute left in the half to hand Benedictine a 38-15 lead. The halftime score was 38-17 as Lakeland made just six shots and Benedictine shot over 55 percent.
The hosts came out strong in the second half. Lakeland fought within 48-38 at the 11:57 mark. Benedictine extended the lead to 15 points before another surge brought Lakeland within 62-55 with 4:54 to go. The Eagles scored six straight and led by as many as 15 points in closing out the win.
Benedictine did not trail in the contest and finished the game shooting 52.9 percent from the field. The Eagles held a 38-29 advantage on the glass. McGinty led four players in double figures with 16 points.

Adam Reynolds and Reamer collecting 15 apiece.
Benedictine (16-8, 14-5 NACC) concludes the regular season on Wednesday night at Rockford.
