Men's Lacrosse Sets Wins Record

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team scored the first four goals of the game and did not look back, claiming a school record 11th win with a 15-6 decision at MSOE.

Benedictine won the opening faceoff and scored the first goal of the day when Andrew Zmijewski struck on a feed with 13:39 to play in the opening quarter. Blake Keenan and Trevor Manzke scored just over a minute apart in the middle of the quarter to make the lead 3-0 before Zmijewski netted his second with 7:45 left to put Benedictine ahead 4-0. The Eagles led 5-2 after one and 8-3 at the break.

The Eagles put the game out of reach by scoring four consecutive goals in a span that began late in the third and stretched into the fourth. David Blanco scored twice followed by a pair from Keenan.

The offense tallied 32 shots and scooped 54 groundballs. Benedictine scored three times in man-up situations. Blanco, Zmijewski, and Keenan all scored three goals. Jamic Adkins caused five turnovers and controlled six groundballs. Rudy Berg led all players with 14 groundballs. All three goalies played. Jeremy Voyda netted three saves in the first half.

The victory ensures that Benedictine will play at home in the opening round when the Eagles appear in the MLC Tournament for the first time on April 29.

Benedictine (11-3, 5-0) plays a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Carroll.
