LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team notched a doubleheader shutout of MSOE on Monday afternoon.
BENEDICTINE 4, MSOE 0 - Game OneMike Irgang allowed just four hits in tossing a complete game shutout in the opener. Irgang struck out six and walked one to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Benedictine opened the scoring in the second inning, grabbing a 1-0 lead. 
Mike Ostrowski drew a one-out walk and scored when 
Quinn Heiner smashed a double to left. The 1-0 advantage held until the eighth when the Eagles tacked on three more. 
Tim Hendricks singled home two runs against a new pitcher and scored moments later when 
Justin Kovalsky collected a two-out double.
The offense accounted for 10 hits in game one. Hendricks put together three along with Kovalsky.
BENEDICTINE 6, MSOE 0 - Game TwoChristopher Jordan took the ball in the second game and followed on the heels of Irgang with a shutout as well. Jordan allowed eight hits while walking one and striking out to to go the distance and win for the first time this season.
Five runs came across in the bottom of the thrid to set the tone for Jordan in the contest. Benedictine recorded four straight singles and used a pair of errors to scored four unearned runs. 
Nick Fillmore picked up the first RBI with the third consecutive single, opening the scoring. Heiner singled to center, extending the margin to 2-0. Two runs came across on an error and 
Matthew Higgs finished the scoring with another RBI single.
A single run scored in the seventh to account for the final score. 
D.J. Dillon led off with a walk and 
Nick Johnson followed with a single. Both individuals moved up on a sacrifice bunt. 
Erik Callaghan extended the lead to 6-0 with an RBI single.
The defense turned a pair of double plays in support of Jordan. Hendricks picked up three more hits in the second game and has posted a hit in five consecutive contests. Kovalsky and Johnson notched two each as Benedictine finished with 13.
Benedictine (10-11, 5-1 NACC) plays a non-conference game at Elmhurst on Thursday afternoon.
