LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team saw a school record seven-game win streak come to a close with a 12-9 non-conference loss to Elmhurst College at home on Wednesday night.
The contest was even until the third quarter. Elmhurst was able to outscore Benedictine 4-1 and take control of the game.
Corbin Gett opened the scoring with 12:16 left in the first quarter, handing Benedictine a 1-0 lead by striking on a feed from
David Blanco. The advantage was the only lead for Benedictine in the game. Elmhurst scored three straight, but the Eagles were able to tie the score after one. The score remained even at the break, 5-5.
Trailing 9-6 after three,
Dominic DePinto scored an unassisted tally to pull Benedictine within 9-7 at the 8:18 mark of the fourth. Elmhurst struck for three more to open a 12-7 edge. Benedictine scored twice in the final three minutes but could not pull closer than the final margin.
Elmhurst held a 41-22 advantage in shots. 21 of the 22 Benedictine shots were on target.
Jeremy Voyda recorded seven saves in goal.

Benedictine (9-3) will look to start a new streak with another non-conference game on Saturday at Hanover. The game will be played at Noblesville High School in Indiana.
