The Benedictine University women's track and field team competed in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday, placing fourth in the event.
Led by
Megan Malone and
Brittany Holst, Benedictine was very strong in the field events. Named the Field Athlete of the Meet, Malone took first place in the shot put (12.64m) and hammer (49.98m), as well as second place in the discus (39.04m). Holst won the pole vault (3.20m) and finished third in the 1.46m.
Also standing out in field events was
Lauren Burish and
Allison Taylor. Burish placed third in the discus (38.38m) and sixth in the hammer (37.02m), while Taylor finished fourth in the javelin (29.47m).
On the track,
Tatiana Arturo placed in the top ten in both the 10000m (42:22.13) and 5000m (20:33.33).
Rachel Scianna placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (12:50.25),
Julie Carroll placed fifth in the 1500m (5:07.05), and
Natalie Kocks placed 7
th in the 400m (1:02.73).
Track and Field competes next in the Dr. Keeler Invite on Thursday and Friday at North Central College. Events begin at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
