WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at UW-Whitewater on Sunday.
The lone goal scored in the first half on a penalty kick in the 25th minute. Benedictine held an 8-6 edge in shots during the opening half but managed only one in the second despite accumulating four corner kicks.
Steve Mack made four saves in goal.
Nick Kapetanos and
Alex Haro each posted three shots.
"Whitewater was certainly a tough road opponent to play on the back end of a two match weekend," head coach
Rich Nassif said. "Whitewater had a very direct, physical style of play and we got caught in one transition moment that resulted in their only real scoring opportunity. Our mistake and we payed for it."
Whitewater reached the NCAA Tournament last season and has received national recognition. All of Benedictine's losses this year have come by 1-0 finals.
Benedictine (2-3) travels to Lake Forest on Wednesday.
