ATLANTA, Ga. - The Benedictine University women's volleyball team finished off a season opening sweep at the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrel Invite by sweeping the hosts on Saturday.
Benedictine won in straight sets, posting decisions of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-12. The Eagles hit .307 for the match including a mark of .421 in the final set.
Erin Wiegand led the offense with 11 kills.
Emily Chitwood added seven.
Kelcey Adams dished out 24 assists and added three aces and nine digs.
Vanessa Possidoni also added nine digs. At the net,
Kara Epping and
Keriann Groen each tallied four blocks. Groen and Adams were each named to the all-tournament team.
Benedictine did not drop a set in the tournament. The Eagles (3-0) open the home schedule on Wednesday night against Eureka.
