Women's Hoops Suffers First Conference Defeat

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team lost for the first time in conference play, dropping a 55-42 contest to Wisconsin Lutheran College.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine did not lead in the contest that featured both teams shooting just over 30 percent for the game
• Wisconsin Lutheran opened the game with a three-pointer and held an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter
• Benedictine held Wisconsin Lutheran to just one point over the final 6:31 of the stanza, battling within 10-8 following two free throws from Alanna Ferry
• The visitors led by 11 in the second and held a 23-14 lead at the break after Benedictine shot just over 20 percent
• Consecutive baskets from DeKayla Crayton and Nicole Botich brought Benedictine within 29-25 with 3:09 left in the third
• Benedictine shot over 50 percent in the quarter but still trailed 38-32
• Crayton brought Benedictine within 42-38 at the 8:03 mark of the fourth, but Wisconsin Lutheran used a 9-0 run to put the contest away

• Benedictine finished the game with a season low point total and shot just 30.2 percent from the field
• Wisconsin Lutheran held a 39-36 advantage on the glass and Benedictine has been outrebounded in three straight games
