Volleyball Drops Two on Saturday

The Benedictine University women's volleyball team traveled to Madison, WI to take on Edgewood College and #13 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles dropped both matches in four sets.

Benedictine 1, Edgewood 3 (19-25, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25)
 
THE DETAILS
• Benedictine trailed the entire first set, falling 25-19
• Down 16-12 in set two, the Eagles rallied back to tie it at 18 – Taylor Dunwell served the next six straight points including two aces to take a commanding lead and win the set
• The third set saw both teams trade points until the end when BenU trailed 24-19, but scored three straight to come within two - it wasn't enough as Edgewood went on to win 25-22
• The Eagles trailed 4-0 early and would come within one but it was too late as Edgewood won the fourth set 25-22

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine could only muster five kills in the first set
• The Eagles trailed early in the second set against the 13th ranked team in the nation but tied it up at 17 – Down 24-22 Benedictine tied it up at 24 with kills from Erin Wiegand but Stevens Point ended the set with straight kills
• After a back and forth third set the Eagles saw themselves trailing 23-20 – the offense of Dunwell and Claudia Schmidt tied the set at 23 and Dunwell and Epping secured BenU's 26-24 win
• In the fourth set Benedictine trailed early and could never come back
