#2 Men's Hoops Caps Perfect Regular Season

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The second-ranked Benedictine University men's basketball team received 94 points from the starting five to cap the first perfect regular season in school history.

THE DETAILS
•
Benedictine gained control early, trailing only 2-0 after the first sequence of the game for each side
• Leading 12-7 five minutes into the contest, Benedictine broke the game open with a 19-1 run
• A layup from Tim Reamer opened the run while John Dodson finished the stretch with a jumper at the 8:08 mark, making the score 31-8
• Benedictine held a 49-28 lead at halftime
• Lakeland pulled within 57-40 early in the second half, but Benedictine was able to pull ahead by 24 at 73-49 just before the halfway point of the second
• Benedictine led by 27 points in the final four minutes to ensure the win
• Benedictine is the first team in conference history to complete a perfect regular season and just the second to run the table in conference play (Concordia Wisconsin 16-0, 2010-11)

"I am very proud of our team and everything they have accomplished this regular season," head coach Keith Bunkenburg said. "We played with a lot of energy from start to finish and it was great to see our starters play well in extended minutes tonight. A 25-0 record is an amazing accomplishment, but our guys are still hungry for the next goal, and that starts on Friday."

With a few players out, the starting five scored 94 combined points in extended action
• Two players logged double-doubles with both scoring over 20 points
• Luke Johnson led all scorers with 25 points and added 17 rebounds along with five blocks
• Reamer, making his third start of the season, notched a career best 24 points to go with 11 rebounds
• Reamer finished 8-of-9 from the field
• Johnson owns 11 double-doubles on the year featuring points and rebounds and a 12th with rebounds and assists; Reamer owns four
• Michael Blaszczyk finished with 19 points while Tahron Harvey added 15 and Dodson contributed 11
• Benedictine held a 45-35 advantage on the glass and shot 58.2 percent for the game

Benedictine (25-0, 20-0) awaits an opponent in the semifinals of the NACC Tournament at home on Friday night after the opening round of action on Wednesday
