Women's Hoops Drops Regular Season Finale

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team finished the regular season with a loss at Lakeland College.

THE DETAILS
• The contest was tight throughout with neither side leading by more than seven points
• Benedictine led the entire first quarter, opening a 16-9 edge in the final minute on a three-pointer from Payton Sims
• After holding a six-point lead with 5:42 remaining in the first half, Benedictine did not score again, falling behind 24-23 at the break
• Benedictine led by a single point twice in the third quarter but after a D'Asia Williams jumper trailed 40-38 after three
• Lakeland opened a six-point edge in the fourth only to see Benedictine lead when Nicole Botich scored on a layup with 2:27 to play
• Alanna Ferry again put Benedictine ahead at 53-52 with 1:49 left but a three-point play allowed Lakeland to move ahead for good
• Ferry missed a three with eight seconds left that could have tied the score

STAT LEADERS
• Ferry scored 14 points to lead Benedictine while Botich added 11
• Benedictine held a 38-28 advantage on the glass with 17 offensive rebounds
• Benedictine shot 36.7 percent for the game

UP NEXT
Benedictine (15-10, 12-8 NACC) will be the sixth seed in the NACC Tournament and will open play at third-seeded MSOE on Tuesday night
