#3 Men's Hoops Blitzes Aurora on the Road

AURORA, Ill. - The third-ranked Benedictine University men's basketball team used a 9-0 run late in the first half to seize control in a road win at Aurora University, improving to 21-0 on the season.

THE DETAILS
•
Aurora came out fired up before a capacity crowd, opening up a double-digit lead at 20-10 just over seven minutes into the game
• Michael Blaszczyk split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 24 with 7:57 to go in the opening half
• Adam Reynolds deposited a layup at the 7:27 mark to hand Benedictine the lead for the first time at 26-24
• Blaszczyk ignited a 9-0 run with a jumper to make the score 28-26 with 7:06 remaining in the half
• Luke Johnson drilled a three-pointer to cap the run, handing Benedictine a 35-26 edge with 5:24 left
• Consecutive three-pointers to close the half from Blaszczyk and Johnson allowed Benedictine to lead 49-36 at the half
• The lead quickly reached 20 in the second half with three straight points from Blaszczyk, handing Benedictine a 60-40 lead with 17 minutes to play
• Aurora pulled no closer than 14 points the rest of the way as Benedictine answered every run
• The win hands Benedictine a three-game lead over the rest of the conference with four games to play

"We had a tough start to the game tonight but our guys were able to figure it out," head coach Keith Bunkenburg said. "We neded a game in this kind of atmosphere. What a great crowd! And to have such support from our students, coaches, and staff on the road was awesome. I am proud to be an Eagle!"

Four players scored in double figures for Benedictine with nine scoring points in the win
• Johnson led the way with 17 points and added 13 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the year
• Blaszczyk finished with 16 points while Tahron Harvey added 15 with seven assists
• Matt Chaltin scored 11 points off the bench
• Benedictine, second nationally in rebound margin, held a 55-35 advantage on the glass
• Benedictine limited Aurora to just 34.4 percent shooting while finishing the game with 11 three-pointers, the seventh contest with double-digit threes

Benedictine (21-0, 16-0 NACC) is one of just three unbeaten teams left in the nation and travels to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday afternoon
