AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Benedictine University baseball team logged a second straight win to open the spring break trip to Florida, dropping fifth-ranked and defending national runner-up UW-La Crosse.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine erupted for eight runs in the second inning to establish control of the game
• Consecutive walks to Brandon Gipson and Nicholas Quick opened the frame
• Dom DeMicco opened the scoring with an RBI single
• Kyle Bock followed with an RBI single to make the score 2-0
• Leading 4-0 with two outs and a new pitcher in the game, Tanner Kiser belted a three-run homer to extend the lead to 7-0
• Bock added another RBI in the frame by coaxing a bases loaded walk
• After UW-La Crosse scored a run in the fourth, Benedictine put the game away with one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to end the game early
• DeMicco logged an RBI triple in the sixth
• Frank Greco earned the win on the hill, tossing a complete game and allowing just one run on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts
• Benedictine has allowed just one run and used only two pitchers in the first two games of the trip

FROM THE COACH
"We played very well today," head coach Adam Smith said. "Frank (Greco) was outstanding on the mound today against a great LaCcrosse team. Offensively, we executed everything we do in that eight-run second inning. It was very fun to watch. I'm very proud of our guys. They're a great group that is really listening and getting better every day. We have another real tough game tomorrow and I can't wait to get out to the field again."

• Benedictine needed only eight hits in the shortened win
• Kiser finished with four RBIs and a pair of hits
• DeMicco and Bock each knocked home a pair with Bock logging a pair of hits
• Benedictine stranded nine on base

Benedictine (3-1) faces another tough test with Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. central time.
