Men's Lacrosse Season Ends in MLC Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team fell to Concordia Wisconsin in the semifinals of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine came out strong, leading for most of the first half
• After falling behind 1-0, Blake Keenan tied the game on a pass from Corbin Gett less than a minute after trailing
• Johnson scored at the 7:20 mark of the first with help from Keenan to put Benedictine ahead
• Dell Hune capped a three-goal run late in the first quarter
• The hosts came back to tie the score in the second before a Johnson tally with 3:06 left handed Benedictine a 4-3 halftime edge
• The second half proved the difference as Concordia Wisconsin outscored Benedictine 9-3 to advance in the tournament
• Down 5-4, Benedictine scored consecutive goals to open a 6-5 edge on a finder from Tony DePinto midway through the third
• Concordia Wisconsin scored four in a row and seven of the final eight goals to pull away

STAT LEADERS
• Concordia Wisconsin held a 49-29 advantage in shots and a 22-17 edge in groundballs
• Jeffrey Smitheram stopped 13 shots in goal
• Smitheram also picked up five groundballs
• Johnson scored three times on 10 shots

SEASON WRAP
Benedictine finished the year with a record of 11-5, matching the single season program record for victories. The first ever senior class produced three straight seasons with 10 or more wins.
